Eccleshill United were unable to become the eighth NCEL side through to this season's Emirates FA Cup First Round of Qualifying as they were beaten 3-1 at home by Mossley on Wednesday night.The Eagles had drawn 0-0 at their Pitching In Northern Premier League opponents at the weekend so were hoping that home advantage could lead to a giant-killing act and progression to the next stage.
However, their visitors led 2-0 at half-time and, although Matthias Britton gave Eccleshill hope when he halved the deficit on 67 minutes, it was Mossley who prevailed with a late third making sure of the victory.
Dearne & District and
Louth Town claimed the final two places in the Second Round of the JCP Construction League Cup with victories in midweek.
Justin Circuit's hat-trick was added to by Bayley Lowe and Joshua Dacre as Dearne won 5-0 against
Maltby Main in a game where they had raced into a 4-0 lead by the interval.
Louth, meanwhile, defeated visitors
Club Thorne Colliery 2-0, courtesy of first half goals from Harrison Dunn and Joe Marshall.

Campion claimed their first points of the campaign as Aidan Kirby, Zak Khan and Robbie Graham struck in a 3-1 home victory over
Knaresborough Town who are still awaiting their first win.
Jack Wilson scored what was an equaliser for the away side but they remain on two points from their opening five games.
In Division One, it is six wins out of six for
Wombwell Town as a Gavin Allott brace helped them to a 4-2 win over visitors
Dronfield Town.
Jordan Kershaw and Joshua Nodder netted for the hosts who climb to the top of the table whilst Max Rhodes and Samuel Bebbington got on the scoresheet for Chris Millington's side.
Kevin Gonzalez's hat-trick secured a 3-1 win for
Ilkley Town at
Shelley, Arista Llewellyn with the home side's goal in the meeting of the two teams who made the lateral move from the North West Counties League in the summer.
And, Samuel Nelson's equaliser for
Glasshoughton Welfare made sure the spoils were shared in a 1-1 draw at
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic after the hosts had taken the lead through Alfie Eagle around the half-hour mark.
