It proved to be an excellent weekend for the NCEL in the Emirates FA Cup as seven of the eleven clubs taking part in the Preliminary Round made their way through to the next stage.

Two of the four who missed out were knocked out by another NCEL side whilst Eccleshill United have another chance in midweek to make it through, leaving Goole AFC as the only team beaten by a side from another competition.

The ties began on Friday night with an all-NCEL encounter between Golcar United and Thackley with the visitors becoming the first to progress thanks to a 1-0 victory.

Ben Grech-Brooksbank struck in the 62nd minute in a close affair and they were joined at the next stage by four other Premier Division sides on Saturday.

Silsden AFC went through at the expense of higher-ranked opposition as they defeated Pitching In Northern Premier League visitors Atherton Collieries 2-0 with goals towards the start of the second period from Kayle Price and Casey Stewart.

An own goal saw Tadcaster Albion through in a 1-0 win at Ebac Northern League hosts Boro Rangers whilst Bottesford Town defeated league rivals Winterton Rangers in another all-NCEL affair.

Aristides Cunha broke the deadlock just before halftime for the hosting Poachers before Jonathan Nyantou doubled their advantage early in the second half and Cunha's second rubber-stamped the victory with five minutes remaining.

And, Barton Town came from behind twice, firstly through Jack Bulless and then a Thomas Waudby penalty, before Grant Tait's 76th minute strike secured the Swans a 3-2 victory at United Counties League side Northampton ON Chenecks.

Eccleshill drew 0-0 at Mossley so have another opportunity to knock out their higher-ranked opponents in a replay that takes place on Wednesday night.

Benjamin Greasley put Goole ahead at home to Melton Town but they were ultimately beaten 3-2 by their United Counties League visitors with Liam Flanagan getting the Vikings an 89th minute consolation.

The excellent weekend for the NCEL in the FA Cup was then capped off on Sunday with two further wins for our sides over North West Counties League opposition.

Iren Wilson and Ross Goodwin struck, one in each half, as Hallam went through at the expense of visitors Charnock Richard.

And, Campion are also into Monday's First Round of Qualifying draw after their 1-0 home victory over AFC Liverpool, the goal coming in the opening minute of the second half.

Meanwhile, two games were played in the Premier Division on Saturday with 2-1 victories for Penistone Church and Frickley Athletic.

Penistone's win at Parkgate has moved them to the top of the table having picked up twelve points from their opening five games, Leon Hurles-Brook with both of their goals and Jamie Austin's penalty in between for the Steelmen.

Zavier Elkin-Sheppard's injury-time strike snatched Frickley their home win against Albion Sports who had equalised through Ryan Conlon after Harley McCormack had given the hosts a 41st minute lead.

The visiting Lions had been reduced to ten men in the thirteenth minute when Nathan Cartman was shown a second yellow card and also had Thomas Ponter sent off before the final whistle.

A full programme of eleven matches took place in Division One and Horbury Town and Wombwell Town have continued their perfect starts to the season.

Horbury, though, needed a stoppage-time winner to make it five wins out of five as Jock Curran struck in dramatic fashion to beat visitors Swallownest 1-0.

In contrast, Wombwell's game was a goal fest as they took the points in a 5-3 victory at Glasshoughton Welfare.

Alexander Clarke put Welfare ahead but the visitors led by the break with goals from Gavin Allott and Daniel Patterson before Samuel Nelson's leveller made it 2-2.

Gavin Allott completed his hat-trick and Jordan Kershaw also found the net as Wombwell surged into a 5-2 lead and Joe Rawcliffe grabbed the hosts' late third.

Dearne & District stay third despite dropping points in a 2-2 home draw with Appleby Frodingham, Shay Evans-Booth and Justin Circuit seemingly giving them the victory before a late Nathan Watson brace ensured the spoils were shared.

Fourth-placed Armthorpe Welfare also drew, Andrew Wright's opener cancelled by Jacob McLoughlin for visitors Club Thorne Colliery as it finished 1-1 at the Marra Falcons Stadium.

James Woodhouse and Nathan Perks netted for Athersley Recreation after they came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Brigg Town and climb above their opponents to fifth in the table, Joshua Batty with his eleventh of the season opening the scoring for the Zebras.

Nostell Miners Welfare picked up their first win of the campaign in style as they thrashed visitors Yorkshire Amateur 7-0, Gracjan Klimczak's hat-trick added to by one each from Antony Leech, Charlie Austerfield, Cyrus Rowe and Harold Monkam Djeukam.

Max Rhodes struck twice as Dronfield Town won 4-0 at home to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, Callum Mawbey and Owen Lester also getting on the scoresheet for Chris Millington's side.

A double in the last quarter-of-an-hour from Eliel Anko earned hosts Harrogate Railway Athletic a 3-1 home win over Wakefield AFC who played most of the game with nine men after Scott Smith and Stephen Smith were both sent off in the 39th minute.

Benjamin Agu got both of South Leeds's goals in a 2-1 win at Ilkley Town whilst Maltby Main defeated Selby Town by the same scoreline, Alex Palmer with an injury-time decider for the Miners.

And, Shelley raced into a 3-0 lead at Louth Town by half-time only to be pegged back for a 3-3 draw, Klein Gwenero's brace and Stephen Williams for the visitors before the White Wolves' comeback came courtesy of Ollie Ross, Alfie Usher and Alex Aldrich.
