Home advantage proved to be the key as five more NCEL Division One sides booked their places in the Second Round of this season's JCP Construction League Cup in midweek.Harrogate Railway Athletic,
Horbury Town,
South Leeds,
Wakefield AFC and
Yorkshire Amateur all progressed at the expense of their visitors in their First Round ties.
Harris Eggleston grabbed the only goal of the game as the Rail were 1-0 victors over
Nostell Miners Welfare whilst a Jack Leach brace helped Horbury beat
Glasshoughton Welfare 3-1.
James Cusworth also netted for Darren Barnes' side whilst Alex Knox got on the scoresheet with a consolation for the visitors.
South Leeds went behind to a 26th minute opener from Craig Billington but went on win 5-1 at home to
Shelley, an own goal levelling matters before William Law's penalty and a Benjamin Agu hat-trick in the last quarter-of-an-hour secured the victory.
It was 2-2 at half time in Wakefield's encounter with
Dronfield Town, Jaydan Sandhu and Sebastian Losa putting the hosts 2-0 up before James Lindores and Samuel Bebbington restored parity by the interval.
But, Losa's second after the break and a 71st minute Stephen Smith strike ensured a 4-2 win for the hosts.
And, Roy Fogarty scored both of Yorkshire Amateur's goals, sandwiching Edward Agnew's equaliser, in a 2-1 home victory over
Wombwell Town.
Meanwhile, there was a full round of Premier Division games with
Hallam keeping themselves at the summit as they made it ten points from their opening four matches with a 3-0 defeat of visitors
Parkgate.
Leon Howarth's first half deadlock-breaker was added to in the second period by Brandon Bradbury and Calum Ward for the Countrymen who remain a point ahead of
Golcar United and
Penistone Church who also both won.
Golcar conceded in the opening minute at
Campion, Lloyd Smith with the perfect start for the hosts, before George Doyle's leveller and Alfie Wilkinson ensured a 2-1 victory by the half-hour.
Penistone were 2-1 down with sixteen minutes remaining at home to
Winterton Rangers but goals from Nathan Keightley and Mackenzie Stocks turned the game around for a 3-2 win.
Samuel Scrivens had originally cancelled out Joe Simpson's opener for Rangers before Luke Anderson restored the away side's advantage on the hour mark.
Fourth-placed
Silsden AFC's 0-0 home draw with
Albion Sports means they lose a little ground on the top three whilst the Lions are still awaiting their first win of the campaign.
Bottesford Town and
Thackley complete the top six following home wins with Matthew Broadley, Aristides Cunha and Josh Fawcett scoring for Bottesford as they beat
Barton Town, 3-1.
And, Tawheed Ahmed pounced in the 68th minute as Thackley were 1-0 victors over
Eccleshill United.
There were two goals each for Manasse Kianga and Ross Hannah as
Rossington Main rolled over visitors
Goole AFC 5-0 whilst
Handsworth won 4-0 at
Beverley Town, Scott Ruthven, Owen Haigh, Fernando Tavares and Alfie Dodsworth on the scoresheet for the Ambers.
Frickley Athletic picked up their first victory of the season as Robert Guilfoyle, Jack Varley and Harry Spooner netted in a 3-1 win at
Tadcaster Albion.
And, the spoils were shared in a topsy-turvy game at
Pickering Town where the hosts led 2-0 at the interval through Joe Wood and Nathan Dyer before an Alex Ingham brace and an Adam Priestley strike made it 3-2 in
Knaresborough Town's favour.
Kieran Stares, however, ensured it was a point apiece with the Pikes' equaliser to make it 3-3 in the 83rd minute.
In Division One,
Dearne & District climb to third following their 4-0 victory at
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, Corey Roper's opener added to by a Shay Evans-Booth double and a goal from Justin Circuit.
Joshua Batty netted twice for
Brigg Town who won 2-0 at home to
Armthorpe Welfare to move the Zebras up to fifth.
And, there were home victories for
Club Thorne Colliery and
Selby Town, Szymon Czubik, Lewis Walker and Henry Parr with the goals for Thorne in their 3-1 win against
Appleby Frodingham.
Meanwhile, Harry Clapham, Harrison Rowley and Connor Ryan got on the scoresheet for the Robins as they beat
Louth Town 3-0.
