Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2017/18 #39

17th December, 2017

AFC Mansfield extended their lead at the top of the Premier Division to five points on Saturday as the Toolstation NCEL fixture list was once again badly affected by freezing weather.

The Bulls' home clash with Hall Road Rangers was one of only six games to go ahead and they took full advantage with a fifth succesive win as they beat their visitors 3-0.

Nicholas Guest opened the scoring midway through the first period but Rudy Funk's side had to wait until the 80th minute to double their lead, Oliver Fearon netting his 31st goal of the season, and Connor Smythe got their third in stoppage time.

The only other surviving top flight game saw six goals shared between Hemsworth Miners Welfare and Albion Sports after the away side had raced into a 2-0 lead through strikes by Sumaili Cissa and Daniel Facey in the opening nineteen minutes.

Luke Danville pulled one back for the hosts in first half injury time and Adam Hayton levelled after the hour mark but they found themselves behind again when Sports regained their lead with a Nathan Woodward goal on 75 only for Nash Connolly to ensure the spoils were shared nine minutes later.

In Division One, Grimsby Borough are up to third after a Jack Bradbury hat-trick helped them to a 4-0 home defeat of Rossington Main, Ben Sibbick with the other strike as all four goals came before the 25 minute mark.

Winterton Rangers climb to eighth after 1-0 victory at seventh-placed Campion, an own goal halfway through the second period settling the encounter.

A 7-2 home victory for Armthorpe Welfare over next-to-bottom Retford United sees the Church Street side up to eleventh, Luke Williams with a hat-trick whilst there was one each for Gary Collier, Christopher Simpkins, Moziah Selassie and Morgan Brough.

Reece Treasure got a brace on an otherwise miserable afternoon for the travelling Badgers.

And, East Yorkshire Carnegie are up to fourteenth after they won 3-2 at home to the side who occupied that position at the start of the day's play, Ollerton Town.

Jordan Harrison had the hosts two up by the half-hour but Gavin King and Lewis Bingham helped the visitors stage a comeback by the interval before Harrison completed his hat-trick on 57 minutes to claim the victory.
