Fourteen Toolstation NCEL sides progressed from the Extra Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup, winning their opening matches of the 2017/18 season, whilst three others will try to join them in midweek replays.Four teams won on their travels with the biggest margin of victory coming for
Handsworth Parramore as they eased by hosts Widnes, 5-0, on Sunday.
Jonathan Hill gave them a first half lead before Joseph Thornton, two from Aaron Moxam and a final goal from Daniel Buttle made it a comfortable afternoon for the Amber Parras.
That was one of three games played on that day with
Hallam also going through as goals from Thomas Roebuck, Sam Fewkes and Joshua Gibson earned them a 3-0 home triumph over Bootle.
In Sunday's other game, however,
AFC Emley were one of nine sides to fall at the first hurdle as they were beaten by visitors Burscough, 3-0.
The rest of the matches were played twenty-four hours earlier with
Pickering Town and
Grimsby Borough both winning 3-0 away from home.
Lewis Taylor netted twice, once from the spot, as the Pikes beat Billingham Town with Alex Robinson also getting on the scoresheet.
And, there was also a double for Jack Bradbury as Borough defeated Harrowby United, Jack Debnam completing the scoring fourteen minutes from time.
Scott Whittington's goal, also on 76 minutes, sent
Penistone Church through 4-3 in a dramatic game at
Charnock Richard that they led 3-2 at the break, courtesy of a Jordan Barnett brace and a goal from Jordan Coduri.
It was the same scoreline for
Harrogate Railway Athletic as they beat rival NCEL hosts
Thackley, coming from 2-0 down to snatch the victory with an 88th minute winner from Luke Stewart.
Bottesford Town posted the biggest victory as they won 6-0 at home to former NCEL side
Long Eaton United with two each for Declan Bacon, Daniel Boulton and John Leonard.
Things were more dramatic in the all-NCEL tie at the Forest Town Arena where an injury-time goal from Craig Mitchell saw hosts
AFC Mansfield through, beating fellow Premier Division visitors
Hall Road Rangers, 2-1.
And,
Staveley Miners Welfare produced an equally breathtaking finale in their match with Loughborough University at Inkersall Road, Kurtis Morley popping up in stoppage time to also claim a 2-1 victory.
Omar Habeeb and Daniel Facey netted early on in
Albion Sports' 2-0 home triumph over Nelson and
Bridlington Town beat visitors Billingham Synthonia by the same result, Jake Day and Brett Agnew converting for the Seasiders.
A Gareth Curtis double helped
Clipstone to a 3-1 victory at home to West Bridgford and
Parkgate are also into the next round as Carl Woodhead, Kieran Hirst, Christopher Howard and Charlie Stewart scored in their 4-2 win over visitors Barnton.
Vaughan Redford got the only goal of the game as
Pontefract Collieries progressed at the expense of their visitors Alsager Town, 1-0.
Retford United will travel to Quorn on Wednesday having drawn 1-1 in their match at the Jones & Co Stadium whilst
Liversedge host
Armthorpe Welfare on Tuesday after their initial clash also ended with a goal apiece.
The other NCEL sides to be knocked out on Saturday were
Athersley Recreation,
Barton Town,
Garforth Town,
Hemsworth Miners Welfare,
Maltby Main,
Rainworth Miners Welfare and
Worksop Town.
Meanwhile, Division One got partially underway with eight games kicking off the campaign for those teams who are not in the FA Cup this season.
Two of the league's three new sides got their NCEL adventure off to the perfect start with 2-0 home victories.
Thomas Whiting and Rocky Makwata scored for
East Yorkshire Carnegie as they saw off
Brigg Town whilst Bradley Davies and Alex Nightingale found the net for
Swallownest against visitors
Winterton Rangers.
FC Bolsover, however, could not begin their time with us with a victory as they went down 4-1 to their landlords
Shirebrook Town in the Langwith Road derby.
Kieran Watson bagged a hat-trick for Shirebrook, who were the home side on this occasion, with Declan Brewin also scoring for them whilst Callum Lytham made history for Bolsover, scoring their first ever NCEL goal.
Ollerton Town were also 4-1 victors as they beat visitors
Dronfield Town, Kyle Ludlow's opener added to by a couple from Kyle Clarkson and a fourth from Gavin King whilst Jamie Willis got a first-half goal for the away side.
It was an opening day win for
Knaresborough Town who started the season in top gear, Blaine Hobson and Brad Walker scoring in the first twenty minutes in their 2-1 win at home to
Nostell Miners Welfare.
Thomas Coyles got the only goal of the game as
Glasshoughton Welfare won at
Selby Town whilst the remaining two matches ended honours even.
Ashley Flynn scored twice for Yorkshire Amateur but his feat was matched by Luke Harrop as Eccleshill United took a point away from their trip to Bracken Edge with a 3-3 draw.
And, it was 1-1 between
Rossington Main and
Campion at Oxford Street, Jason Stokes rescuing a point for Main after Danny Stocker had given the away side a half-time lead.
