Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #59
9th March, 2016
Clipstone are through to the Final of the Notts Senior Cup next month where they will face Basford United for the second year in a row.
New manager Billy Fox took charge of his first game but, due to the competition's rules on player eligibility for the tie, was only able to name eleven players for the tie with his predecessor Jas Colliver returning to help make up the numbers.
Nicky Walker got both of the Cobras' goals in a 2-1 victory at East Midlands Counties League side Radford and Clipstone will now look to get revenge for the defeat in last season's Final.
Tuesday's other two County Cup ties were all-NCEL affairs with Bridlington Town winning 3-2 over Westella VIP in the Quarter-Finals of the East Riding Senior Cup and Handsworth Parramore beating Worksop Town 4-2 at the same stage of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.
Lewis Andrews had put Westella ahead early in their tie which had been switched to Bridlington's Neil Hudgell Solicitors Stadium but Chris Jenkinson and Ryan Nicholls struck quickly to put the Premier Division hosts in front and Andy Norfolk added their third with ten minutes to go before there was a late second for the Division One side through Luke Salas.
Kieran Wells scored all four of Parramore's goals as the Windsor Foodservice Stadium landlords knocked out their tenants whose goals both came from Kyle Jordan.
Rainworth Miners Welfare produced a stunning quickfire comeback to win 3-2 at Yorkshire Amateur to move into the Fourth Round of the League Cup.
Their Division One hosts were two up going into the last fifteen minutes due to goals from Dan Sheriffe and Adam Shaw but the Wrens made their higher league position count as Liam Nelthorpe, Matthew Plant and Matthew Sykes netted in a four-minute period to send them through.
In the Premier Division, Cleethorpes Town climbed into fourth, just three points off top spot, with a 3-0 win at Barton Town Old Boys, Jonathan Oglesby, Luke Mascall and Brody Robertson all getting on the scoresheet in the second period.
Pickering Town are up into sixth after their 3-1 victory over hosts Thackley, Ryan Cooper and Mitchell Hamiton putting them in control before Joe Brown pulled one back for the home side and Lewis Taylor made sure of the win with his side's third on 57 minutes.
And, bottom side Liversedge celebrated their first home game since October 31st with a 3-1 win over Pontefract Collieries to keep their survival bid on track as they are now just seven points off safety with seven matches in hand.
James Eyles struck twice in the opening 34 minutes, Joe Walton made it three midway through the second half and Jack Mawson got the visitors off the mark as the game went towards stoppage time.
Hull United returned to the Division One play-off zone with a 5-0 victory over Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, Nick McNamara, Gary Bradshaw, Shane Hill, Jamie Richardson and an own goal securing the comfortable win against their relegation threatened opponents.
Lincoln Moorlands Railway went down 4-3 at Hall Road Rangers, Adam Foster with a couple of goals for the home side, and that defeats means that Moorlands must win all of their remaining five matches to have a chance of ending the season outside of the bottom two.
Bradley Walker struck twice in Knaresborough Town's 3-1 home win over Dronfield Town to tighten their grip on a top nine finish.
Meanwhile, all of Wednesday's games in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup, Premier Division and Division One were called off due to waterlogged pitches as a result of heavy rain overnight and throughout the day.
