Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #58

6th March, 2016

Only eleven Toolstation NCEL games, five in the Premier Division and six in Division One, managed to beat the recent bad weather on Saturday.

Bridlington Town missed out on a chance to go to the summit in the top flight as they were beaten 2-1 at Maltby Main who climb up to ninth as a result of their victory.

Joshua Nodder got both of the Miners' goals, the first a 38th minute penalty added to by his second just past the hour mark, before the visitors got a late consolation through Tim Taylor.

The rest of the action focussed on the bottom half of the table with varying fortunes for those hoping to survive the drop.

Two of the relegation-threatened sides faced each other as Nostell Miners Welfare played out a 1-1 draw at home to Parkgate, Macole Lannaman putting the away side ahead on 55 minutes before parity was restored by Ryan Donaghue a quarter-of-an-hour later to make it a point apiece.

Parkgate go above Brigg Town who fall into the bottom three after their 3-2 loss at Rainworth Miners Welfare, Paul Grimes' brace putting the Zebras ahead after Matthew Plant had given the hosts an early lead but goals in the last ten minutes from Declan Brewin and Liam Theakstone secured the Wrens their first victory in almost two months.

Pontefract Collieries edged further away from trouble with a 3-1 win at Retford United, Kingsley Wetherald and Steve Palfrey with strikes in the final five minutes to claim what could be a vital three points.

And, Thackley were 3-1 home winners over Garforth Town, Patrick McGuire, Ben Cohen and Thomas Dugdale with their goals to tighten their grip on thirteenth spot.

In Division One, AFC Mansfield beat fellow promotion-hopeful visitors Hull United, 1-0, Ryan Williams with the goal on 59 minutes as the second placed Bulls move five points clear of the chasing pack.

AFC Emley are up to fourth after Ashley Flynn got all their goals in a 4-0 home win over Yorkshire Amateur, making it seventy goals this season for the forward.

His side leapfrog Shirebrook Town whose promotion challenge took a blow with a 2-0 defeat to visitors Grimsby Borough, Craig Mitchell and Jason Flint with the goals in the opening quarter of the match.

Basement side Lincoln Moorlands Railway battled away but it was visitors Teversal who took all three points in a 3-2 win to move up into eleventh spot, Lewis Weaver, Khyle Sargent and Gary Atkins scoring for the away side whilst Shane Clancey and Lee Croft netted for the hosts.

Jamie Coulson's hat-trick secured a 3-1 win at Rossington Main for Winterton Rangers whilst Del Pollock got both of Glasshoughton Welfare's goals as they claimed a 2-1 home victory over Eccleshill United.
