Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #55

25th February, 2016

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division leaders Tadcaster Albion suffered their first defeat in seven league games as they went down 2-1 at Staveley Miners Welfare in midweek.

Jason Mycoe put the Brewers ahead on eleven minutes and they kept their lead until Kieran Watson levelled for the hosts early in the second period and Courtney Hastings grabbed the winner with nine minutes remaining and Staveley move up to sixth in the table.

Handsworth Parramore climbed to third, just two points behind Tadcaster, after their 4-3 home victory over Barton Town Old Boys.

They went ahead in the eleventh minute through Kieran Wells but Gareth Barlow and Ashley Dexter quickly put the visitors in front before Richard Adams restored parity again in a breathless start to the game.

Wells got his second and Handsworth's third on 53, Gareth Griffiths put them two goals clear midway through the second period and Alex Sherwood netted a stoppage time consolation for the Swans.

James Walker grabbed a vital goal for Armthorpe Welfare as they won 1-0 at fellow strugglers Parkgate, the battle to avoid relegation hotting up with just three points separating next-to-bottom Brigg Town with Armthorpe who are seventeenth.

Pontefract Collieries are one place below them after their 1-1 draw at Thackley, Brad Kerr with a late penalty to rescue them a point after Andrew Wood gave Thackley a 59th minute breakthrough.

In Division One, Westella VIP went goal crazy at relegation threatened Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, Joe McFadyen with a double whilst Mike Hewitt, Garry Flounders, Andy Coverdale, Chris Spinks and Luke Salas netted in a 7-1 victory.

Two goals each for Joel Hughes and Harrison Blakey helped Yorkshire Amateur to a 5-3 home win over Grimsby Borough, Adam Drury with a brace for the visitors.

And, Knaresborough Town came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Selby Town, Sam Cook with what proved to be the winner on 66 minutes.

Meanwhile, Bridlington Town and Penistone Church moved through to the Fourth Round of the League Cup with 4-0 home victories.

A Chris Adams penalty kicked things off for Bridlington at home to Brigg Town with Chris Jenkinson, Joel Sutton and Connor Harman making it a comfortable evening.

And, Penistone produced an upset as the Division One side beat their Premier Division opponents Maltby Main, Oliver Fearon and Jack Moore in the first half whilst Benjamin Rhodes struck twice in the second period to complete the victory.
