Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #49

4th February, 2016

Adam Baker's strike four minutes from time earned Tadcaster Albion three vital points in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division title race in midweek.

The Brewers' 1-0 victory at Pontefract Collieries has moved them up to third in the table, two points behind leaders Worksop Town with three games in hand.

Albion Sports tightened their grip on sixth spot with a 1-0 victory of their own at home to Parkgate, Marcus Edwards with the breakthrough in the eleventh minute.

Clipstone and Staveley Miners Welfare move up a place to seventh and eighth, respectively, after a 2-2 draw at Inkersall Road, Charlie Oglesby snatching an injury-time equaliser for Staveley after goals either side of half-time from Chris Salt and Jahmal Smith had seemingly given the visitors the victory.

Maltby Main strolled to a 5-1 triumph at Retford United, courtesy of four goals in the opening fourteen minutes from Gary Hibbert, Ryan Carroll, Lewis Bemrose and Sam Forster before Carroll got his second early in the second period and Adam Lee claimed a consolation for the home side from the penalty spot on 68.

In Division One, Hemsworth Miners Welfare are becoming overwhelming favourites to be crowned champions as a 2-1 win at Glasshoughton Welfare moved them eight points clear at the top of the table.

Luke Danville grabbed what proved to be the winner on 82 minutes after the home side's Adam Walsh had cancelled out an opener from Jason Yates.

Sixth-placed Hull United won 2-1 at Grimsby Borough, Jamie Richardson's 78th minute goal settling the match in their favour whilst Teversal stay eleventh after their 2-0 home victory over Eccleshill United, Khyle Sargent and Lewis Weaver getting on the scoresheet.

The Tevie Boys remain just above Selby Town who, helped by a second-half Danny Bunch brace, beat visitors Yorkshire Amateur, 3-1.

And, AFC Emley are out of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup as they were beaten 4-1 at Evo-Stik League Premier Division side Frickley Athletic in their Quarter-Final tie, Ashley Flynn putting them ahead with a penalty on the half-hour mark before the hosts made their superior league position count in the second period.
