Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #41
3rd January, 2016
Just three matches in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division managed to survive the continuing wet weather on Saturday whilst seven games were played in Division One.
Bridlington Town moved up to third, two points away from leaders Tadcaster Albion, with a 1-0 victory at fellow highflyers Clipstone, Benn Lewis with the goal on 54 minutes that sees the Cobras drop to seventh.
A hat-trick from Marc Cooper helped Cleethorpes Town to a 5-1 home win at the expense of Retford United which sees the Owls climb into fourth spot.
Daniel Trott and Louis Grant also found the net for the hosts whilst Bradley Johnston got on the scoresheet for the Badgers with a first half equaliser.
Nostell Miners Welfare put more daylight between themselves and the relegation zone with a 4-0 victory over visitors Maltby Main, Andrew Davis and Matthew Johnson putting them in control in the opening period before Devonte Morton's late double settled the matter to move them seven points clear of the bottom three.
In Division One, second placed AFC Mansfield are now three points behind the pacesetters Hemsworth Miners Welfare after a 3-2 win at Penistone Church who stay six.
Craig Mitchell put the away side in front on nine minutes but Penistone levelled through Ashley Ellis and then took the lead with an Oliver Fearon strike before Perry Marriott made it all-square again on the hour mark and Mark Dudley got the winner with twelve minutes remaining.
A further point behind are Hull United who tightened their grip on third spot with a 2-1 win at home to Winterton Rangers as the side just below them, Bottesford Town, were beaten by the same scoreline by visitors Knaresborough Town, a late own goal from Ryan Short condemning them to a defeat.
Ashley Flynn added two more to his tally in fifth placed AFC Emley's 5-0 home win over Glasshoughton Welfare to make it 53 for the season but that was not until his side was firmly in control of the game thanks to first half strikes from Paul Spicer, Ruben Jerome and Jordan Corduri.
Shirebrook Town remain sixth despite a 3-1 victory at bottom side Lincoln Moorlands Railway whilst Hallam stay in eighth after a goalless draw at Rossington Main.
And, there was a 1-1 scoreline between Worsbrough Bridge Athletic and Hall Road Rangers, Daniel Walker making it honours even on sixty minutes after Neil Spruce had given the home side an early advantage.
