Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #40
28th December, 2015
Worksop Town were unable to return to the top of the Premier Division on a Boxing Day weekend where torrential rain put paid to all but eleven games in the Toolstation NCEL.
Leaders Tadcaster Albion saw their game postponed but they stay at the summit going into 2016 as Worksop, despite twice going ahead, drew 2-2 at Retford United.
Kyle Jordan put the Tigers in front on five minutes before Jason Bradley levelled for the hosts late in the opening period, Steve Woolley restored the away side's advantage with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining but Adam Lee then struck to ensure it was honours even.
And, there were defeats for third-placed Barton Town Old Boys and fourth-placed Handsworth Parramore as they both missed out on a chance of cutting the gap to the Brewers to just one point.
Jacob Cawsey netted for Barton but they went down 2-1 at Brigg Town who move off the bottom of the table for the first time since the first half of September, courtesy of goals from Elliott Broughton and James Wroot.
Parramore were beaten 4-2 at home by Staveley Miners Welfare, Bruno Holden with both of their goals whilst Courtney Hastings' brace and strikes from Adam Scott and Steve Carty lift the Trojans up to tenth spot.
Clipstone are up to fifth following a 3-0 win at home over Rainworth Miners Welfare, Nicky Walker netting twice, once from the spot, whilst Alec Denton claimed his 23rd goal of the season.
Luke Mascall, Peter Winn, Marc Cooper and Brody Robertson all scored for Cleethorpes Town as they defeated visitors Armthorpe Welfare, 4-1, to climb into seventh.
And, Athersley Recreation move up to fourteenth as they won 2-0 at home to Nostell Miners Welfare, McCauley Shilito and Joe Thornton scoring in the opening half.
As in the Premier Division, the chasing pack were unable to take advantage of Division One leaders Hemsworth Miners Welfare's postponed game as nearest rivals AFC Mansfield and Hull United both dropped points.
Mansfield took an early lead through Ryan Williams at home to Shirebrook Town but Liam Greenfield made sure the spoils were shared with an equaliser on 80 minutes as it finished 1-1.
Hull were beaten 2-1 at Hall Road Rangers with the hosts grabbing an injury time winner through Lee Shilleto after they had seen their opening goal from Callum Harrison cancelled out by Jamie Richardson.
Fourth-placed Bottesford Town moved to within a point of the top three after a 1-0 home victory over Rossington Main, Wayne Graves with the breakthrough on 52 minutes.
It finished 1-1 in the top six clash between Penistone Church and AFC Emley with Lewis Dickinson's last gasp equaliser rescuing a point for the home side after Ashley Flynn's 51st goal of the campaign had given the visitors a 72nd minute lead.
And, Teversal played out a 1-1 draw with Dronfield Town at Carnarvon Street, Blake Owen putting the away side ahead early in the match before Bradley Cox equalised on 32 minutes.
