Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #29
15th November, 2015
Two early goals from Adam Baker helped Tadcaster Albion to a 4-0 home win over Thackley on Saturday which moved them back to the top of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.
He struck twice in the opening nine minutes to put the Brewers in control before Josh Greening and Gregg Anderson made sure of the victory in the second period.
They go above Worksop Town who were held 1-1 by visitors Cleethorpes Town after Liam Dickens' 55th minute equaliser cancelled out Kyle Jordan's goal for the home side midway through the first half.
Cleethorpes drop to fifth, overtaken by Handsworth Parramore and Clipstone who both won on their travels.
A Nathan Lovitt own goal and a late Jon Froggatt strike saw Parramore prevail 2-0 at Armthorpe Welfare whilst an Alec Denton hat-trick took the Clipstone striker to the top of the Premier Division scorers chart on 22 goals for the season as his side came from behind to beat hosts Parkgate, 3-1.
Barton Town Old Boys stay in sixth but had to battle at home to Maltby Main after a Joshua Nodder brace had put their opponents 2-0 up by half-time, Gareth Barlow and Jake Vernon scoring after the interval to share the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
And, Albion Sports remain seventh after drawing 3-3 at Brigg Town, the home side showing great determination to fight back from going two goals down to claim a point.
Staveley Miners Welfare won 4-0 at Athersley Recreation with a brace from Steve Carty helping them to the victory whilst Pontefract Collieries beat visitors Garforth Town, 4-3, and Rainworth Miners Welfare were also winners on their own patch, 4-2 against Pickering Town.
Hemsworth Miners Welfare are still the leaders in Division One but their lead has been cut to one point after their 3-3 home draw with fourth-placed Penistone Church.
Oliver Fearon had put the away side ahead on 15 minutes but Shane Kelsey levelled in first half stoppage time and then a Bill Law double had seemingly given Hemsworth the points before Daniel Joynes popped up twice in the final quarter-of-an-hour to make it honours even.
AFC Mansfield are up to second after hat-tricks from Daniel Williams and Dean Rick helped to demolish visitors Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, 9-0.
The Bulls climb over Bottesford Town whose game at Dronfield Town was one of four games called off due to waterlogged pitches, the others being Eccleshill United versus AFC Emley and Selby Town versus Rossington Main in Division One whilst Retford United's trip to Liversedge in the Premier Division also fell foul of the weather.
The battle of the basement sides saw Grimsby Borough storm to a 6-1 win at Lincoln Moorlands Railway with Jamie Coulson getting four of their goals to leave their hosts stranded at the foot of the table.
Shirebrook Town won 5-1 at home to Glasshoughton Welfare to move up into eighth, a place behind Hallam who beat Knaresborough Town at Manse Lane, 2-0.
And, Yorkshire Amateur snatched a last-gasp draw against visitors Teversal, Jasaih Donaldson netting in stoppage time as it finished 2-2 at Bracken Edge.
Meanwhile, four of our sides were involved in East Riding Senior Cup Second Round action and all of them progressed to the next stage.
A Paul Wray double helped Bridlington Town win 5-3 at Crown, Hull United beat hosts East Riding Rangers, 4-0, with Brett Agnew getting a hat-trick, Hall Road Rangers defeated visitors South Cave United, 4-2, and there were also three goals for Alex Wood in Westella VIP's 6-1 victory at Wawne United.
