Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #28

12th November, 2015

Focus turned mainly towards various County Cup competitions for many Toolstation Northern Counties East Football League sides in midweek.

There were four games in the Third Round of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup with two all-NCEL affairs as AFC Emley and Hallam saw off league rivals.

Ashley Flynn scored two of Emley's goals in a 3-1 home victory over Parkgate to take his tally to 46 and break the Division One goalscorers record whilst Kieran Ryan also got on the scoresheet and Alex Lill converted a late consolation for the visitors.

And, Michael Blythen netted midway through the second half as Hallam won 1-0 at Rossington Main.

Handsworth Parramore and Worksop Town, meanwhile, enjoyed comfortable victories with two goals each for Alex Rippon and Jon Froggatt as Parramore won 5-0 at home to Swallownest and second-half strikes from Jack Waddle and James Cottingham helped Worksop beat former NCEL side Frecheville CA, 4-1, in a game switched to the Windsor Foodservice Stadium.

In the Second Round of the West Riding County Cup, Garforth Town dispatched fellow NCEL visitors Armthorpe Welfare, 5-0, with two goals from Curtly Martin-Wyatt and penalties from Mike Garrod and Ben Beckles secured Thackley a 3-0 home victory over Liversedge.

Barton Town Old Boys beat hosts Cleethorpes Town in a penalty shoot-out after their Lincolnshire Senior Trophy Quarter Final ended 2-2 whilst AFC Mansfield were beaten 2-1 in extra-time by Central Midlands League visitors Sherwood Colliery in the Second Round of the Notts Senior Cup.

In the only midweek Premier Division game, there was a hat-trick for Ryan Cooper as Pickering Town won 5-2 at Albion Sports.

In Division One, there were also three goals for Gary Atkins in Teversal's 7-1 victory at home to Winterton Rangers whose keeper was sent off on the half-hour mark.

And, Bottesford Town missed out on a chance to go top of the table as they went down 2-1 at Hull United with 431 watching the Citizens' first game at the KC Lightstream Stadium.
