Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #27

8th November, 2015

The top two sides in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division both won 4-1 on their travels on Saturday to increase the gap between themselves and the chasing pack to nine points.

Worksop Town remain on the summit on goal difference despite going behind in the opening minute at Nostell Miners Welfare through a Simon Poole strike, Kyle Jordan's double putting them ahead by the interval before Conor Higginson and Steve Woolley made sure of the victory in the final quarter-of-an-hour.

Tadcaster Albion won by the same scoreline at Handsworth Parramore, bringing the home side's fourteen match unbeaten run in all competitions, stretching back over two months, to an end.

A 5-0 home win over bottom side Brigg Town saw Cleethorpes Town somersault over Parramore into third spot, Brody Robertson with two of their goals and Jonathan Oglesby also finding the net whilst their cause was helped by a couple of own goals from the visitors.

They also went above Clipstone who were beaten 3-2 at home by Athersley Recreation, a win that moves the visitors out of the relegation zone.

Tom Copping, Adam Podmore and Ryan White struck in the opening 25 minutes for the Penguins with Jahmal Smith getting a goal back in that time and Alec Denton converting a late penalty for the hosts.

A Tom Fleming brace helped Bridlington Town to a 3-1 win at Retford United to move them up into ninth whilst Courtney Hastings got a hat-trick for Staveley Miners Welfare as they beat Maltby Main, 5-2, at Muglet Lane.

And, in a Premier Division fixture list curtailed by the wet weather, the day's other game saw Pickering Town prevail 2-1 at home to Liversedge.

Hemsworth Miners Welfare stay top of Division One after a high-scoring home encounter with basement side Lincoln Moorlands Railway.

Jason Yates put them ahead on eight minutes from the penalty spot but Railway rallied through Adam Crossley only for the hosts to go back ahead on the quarter-of-an-hour mark through Danny Critchlow and they made it 3-1 on 23 through Shane Kelsey.

But, the visitors would not lie down as Josh Schofield got their second but Hemsworth made sure they had a two goal advantage at the break as Kelsey again found the net.

Alex Mackinder halved the deficit once more for Railway on 57 minutes but two further strikes from Critchlow to complete his hat-trick saw the home side get the points in a 6-3 victory.

Bottesford Town are up to second, one point behind Hemsworth, after their 5-1 home victory over Yorkshire Amateur, Craig Bridge getting two of their goals, as they go above AFC Mansfield who drew 0-0 at local rivals Shirebrook Town.

Daniel Joynes' hat-trick helped Penistone Church to a 5-1 win at home to Dronfield Town and they climb into fourth spot ahead of AFC Emley who drew 3-3 with visitors Selby Town thanks to two late Kieran Ryan goals after Ashley Flynn had netted his 44th of the season at the start of the game.

Hull United are now sixth after their 2-1 victory at Rossington Main, Matty Start with what proved to be the winner on the hour mark, leapfrogging Hallam who went down by a single goal at home to Eccleshill United.

Two goals in stoppage time from Reece Lucas and Brett Lucas snatched Glasshoughton Welfare a 2-1 victory over visitors Westella VIP whilst Hall Road Rangers cantered to a 4-0 home win against Grimsby Borough.

And, there was deep disappointment for Teversal in the Second Round of the Notts Senior Cup as they went down 3-2 at Precision Nottinghamshire Senior League strugglers Beeston.
