Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #26
5th November, 2015
Barton Town Old Boys claimed the final spot in the Third Round of the Toolstation NCEL League Cup in midweek.
The Swans travel to Worksop Town at the next stage after a 2-1 home win over Rossington Main, Ashley Lattimore's penalty and a Gareth Owen strike putting them in control by the 22nd minute before Matthew Bradley pulled one back for the visitors with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.
In the Premier Division, an injury-time winner from Marcus Edwards earned Albion Sports a 4-3 victory at home to Pontefract Collieries which moved his side up into seventh spot whilst Brigg Town remain bottom despite a 1-1 draw with visitors Athersley Recreation, Paul Grimes' penalty claiming a point after Jason Bentley had put the away side ahead.
The match between Maltby Main and Athersley Recreation was abandoned early on due to fog and Clipstone's trip to Staveley Miners Welfare was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.
Hemsworth Miners Welfare stormed to the top of Division One as a Danny Critchlow hat-trick and two each for Bill Law and Shane Kelsey helped them to an 8-1 home thrashing of Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.
Wayne Graves scored three for Bottesford Town as the third-placed side won 4-0 at Knaresborough Town and AFC Emley are up to fourth following their 3-2 victory over hosts Glasshoughton Welfare, Ashley Flynn netting his 43rd of the season to snatch the win in the 89th minute.
Yorkshire Amateur climb to eighth after a 4-1 victory at Grimsby Borough, Craig Heard getting two of their goals.
But, the most enthralling game of midweek was between Dronfield Town and Lincoln Moorlands Railway which ended as an eleven goal thriller.
Christian Savage and Sam Bebbington had put the home side two up before Ward Wisdom-Lockwood pulled one back for Moorlands in the 21st minute, Tom Fairweather restored Dronfield's two goal advantage but Adam Croft then struck twice to make it 3-3 towards the end of the first period.
There was still time for Savage to score his second and Dronfield's fourth on 44 to give them a slim lead by the interval which was cancelled out at the start of the second half through Alex Mackinder but the hosts made it 6-4 before the hour mark with Ashden Morley getting on the scoresheet and Fairweather netting his second.
Croft completed his hat-trick with thirteen minutes remaining but that was the end of the scoring as Dronfield claimed a 6-5 victory to move them up to eleventh whilst Moorlands stay bottom of the table.
