Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #25

1st November, 2015

Seven Toolstation NCEL sides progressed into the Second Round of the FA Vase, Tadcaster Albion missed out on a chance to go back top of the Premier Division and AFC Emley's Ashley Flynn continued his phenomenal scoring record in another dramatic Saturday of football.

In the only all-NCEL clash of the FA Vase, Hallam prevailed 2-1 at fellow Division One side Selby Town with first half goals from Michael Blythen and Jordan Turner sending them through despite Chris Jackson giving the hosts hope on the hour mark.

Maltby Main ran riot in extra-time to win 4-1 at Stokesley Sports Club with Farbod Yousefi netting twice to complete the victory but Armthorpe Welfare and Clipstone were both beaten on their travels, 8-0 at former NCEL side Guisborough Town and 1-0 at Quorn, respectively.

Handsworth Parramore also needed a further half-hour to move on to the next stage as a Kieran Wells hat-trick helped them to a highly entertaining 5-4 victory at home to Shildon whilst a late Danny Critchlow double secured passage for Hemsworth Miners Welfare as they defeated visitors West Auckland Town, 3-2.

Jake Currie and Antony Rowley scored for Shirebrook Town in their 2-0 home win over Sporting Khalsa, Luke Mangham's 46th minute strike was enough for Garforth Town for their single-goal victory over Hebburn Town at the JS White & Co Community Stadium and Marc Cooper pounced ten minutes from time to send Cleethorpes Town through, 2-1 at home to Westfields.

Sadly, Dronfield Town went down 3-2 to visitors Ashington in extra-time and Athersley Recreation are also out after a 5-1 home loss to Colne.

The seven winners will be joined in Monday's Second Round draw by AFC Mansfield, Tadcaster Albion and Worksop Town who enter the competition for the first time this season.

In the Premier Division, George Conway struck a hat-trick for Tadcaster but it was not enough for them to barge Worksop off the summit as they were held to a 4-4 home draw by Albion Sports, the visitors' goals coming via braces for Marcus Edwards and Alex Cusack, to leave the Brewers behind the Tigers on goal difference.

Barton Town Old Boys were unable to climb into the top three as they went down 4-3 at Liversedge, a vital three points for the home side coming courtesy of two late goals from Kenny Tafireyi and Craig Tonkinson before Tom Darwood netted for the visitors to reduce the deficit down to one in stoppage time.

An Aaron Moxam hat-trick secured Pontefract Collieries a 3-1 win at home to Rainworth Miners Welfare after they had gone behind to a Matthew Sykes strike on the quarter-of-an-hour mark.

Pickering Town won 1-0 at Bridlington Town, courtesy of Sam Calvert's 42nd minute strike, Fidel Mholo netted twice for Nostell Miners Welfare as they beat bottom-placed hosts Brigg Town, 3-1, and Mike Garrod got both of Thackley's goals as his side beat Parkgate 2-0 at Green Lane.

AFC Mansfield returned to the top of Division One but left it late to beat visitors Glasshoughton Welfare, 3-1, with James Ghaichem and Dean Rick getting on the scoresheet in the last ten minutes for the Bulls.

Third-placed Bottesford Town drew 1-1 at Winterton Rangers, Terry Barwick claiming them a point after Gary Nimmo's opener for the home side.

Danny Barlow scored late on for Penistone Church but it was not enough for the team in fourth spot as they went down 2-1 at Yorkshire Amateur, thanks to first half goals from Thomas Rose and Craig Heard.

Emley went goal crazy for the second Saturday in the row, making it 24 goals in their last two weekend matches with an 11-1 home annihilation of basement side Lincoln Moorlands Railway, Flynn with a hat-trick to take his season's tally to 42, Kieran Ryan and Alex Slack got two each whilst there were also goals for Michael Tunnacliffe, Jordan Corduri, Tom Brennan and Samuel Scrivens.

Teversal struck twice in the final three minutes, through James McCann and Bradley Cox, to take a 3-3 draw from Westella VIP and Eccleshill United shared the goals around in their 6-2 home victory over Worsbrough Bridge Athletic with Andy Cooper, Luke Harrop, Ben Hardy, Liam Charles, Brett Catley and Brandan Hammond all getting one each.
