Clipstone have returned to the top four of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division after a 3-2 win at home to Pickering Town in midweek.
But, the Cobras almost let a three goal lead slip after a first half double from Jahmal Smith and an early penalty in the second period converted by Alec Denton had put them in total control as a Chris Salt own goal and then a Matthew Turnbull strike brought the visitors back to within touching distance of their hosts.
Thackley moved out of the bottom three with a 3-1 victory at Albion Sports, Thomas Dugdale's 79th minute goal sealing the win with their third after the home side had threatened a comeback.
And, the division's two basement sides played out a 2-2 draw at the Hawthorns as hosts Brigg Town equalised in injury time through Phil Winn to share the spoils with Armthorpe Welfare.
In the only Division One game, Shirebrook Town enjoyed a 4-1 home win over Lincoln Moorlands Railway who stay bottom, Josh Gibson with two of the Langwith Road outfit's goals.
Pontefract Collieries and AFC Emley joined Albion Sports in the Third Round of the League Cup with two Max Leonard goals helping the Colls to a 4-2 win at Winterton Rangers.
And, Emley were 3-2 victors in a penalty shoot-out after it finished 3-3 at home to Liversedge, Jordan Townsend and Vaughan Redford scoring two each for the hosts and away side, respectively, in extra-time.
There were mixed fortunes in the many County Cup games that took place in midweek with Hull United enjoying the biggest victory, 9-1 against Easington United in the East Riding Senior Cup First Round, Brett Agnew with four of their goals at the Roy West Centre.
There was a double for both Gareth Owen and Scott Phillips as Barton Town Old Boys won 6-2 at home to league rivals Grimsby Borough in the First Round of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy and they are joined in the next stage by Cleethorpes Town who defeated visitors Bottesford Town, 5-2, in another all-NCEL tie.
Louis Grant scored a brace for the Owls whilst Tom Wilson got both of the away side's goals.
AFC Mansfield comfortably went through to the Second Round of the Notts Senior Cup with a 6-2 triumph at Bulwell, Jake Park netting a hat-trick for the Bulls but Knaresborough Town's brave resistance ended in the West Riding County Cup as they were beaten 4-3 on penalties at Ossett Albion after the game finished 2-2 after ninety minutes.
And, in a busy Second Round for our clubs in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup there were 4-1 home victories for Handsworth Parramore and Maltby Main at the expense of Nostell Miners Welfare and Jubilee Sports.
There were wins on their own patch for Rossington Main, 6-2 against Bentley Colliery, Worsbrough Bridge Athletic who beat Swinton Athletic 3-2 and Parkgate whose match against Wickersley was reversed to their ground with the Steelmen winning 4-0.
Hallam defeated hosts Athersley Recreation, 3-0, with Jordan Turner getting two goals but Hemsworth Miners Welfare bowed out after a 3-2 loss to visitors Stocksbridge Park Steelers and Penistone Church were beaten 1-0 at home by North Gawber.
And, Glasshoughton Welfare conceded twice in the opening half-hour to lose 2-0 to a Leeds United youth side in a friendly.
