Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #19

11th October, 2015

A late winner from Josh Greening kept Tadcaster Albion at the top of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division on Saturday.

He netted the only goal of the game at Retford United in the 89th minute to keep the Brewers two points ahead of Worksop Town who won 3-1 at Rainworth Miners Welfare, Kyle Jordan with a hat-trick for the Tigers.

All eight of the top nine teams that were in action all won in a day of few surprises in the league's top flight.

Scott Phillips scored for fourth placed Barton Town Old Boys as they beat basement side Brigg Town, 1-0, at the Euronics Ground whilst a second half goal blitz from Cleethorpes Town kept them fifth with a 4-0 home victory over Parkgate.

Joel Sutton scored twice as Bridlington Town won 4-1 at Liversedge and Mark Simpson got on the scoresheet for Garforth Town in their 1-0 victory at Maltby Main.

Clipstone and Albion Sports both picked up three points on their travels, Brad Jones and Alec Denton scoring in a 2-0 victory at Thackley for Clipstone whilst Marcus Edwards' brace helped Sports to a 3-0 scoreline at Athersley Recreation.

Pickering Town were the only side to triumph in the bottom half of the table as they won 2-0 at home to Armthorpe Welfare whilst, on Friday night, there was a 2-2 draw between Nostell Miners Welfare and Pontefract Collieries.

In Division One, AFC Mansfield remain four points clear at the top of the table after a Craig Mitchell double, added to by Dean Rick, earned them a 3-1 home win over Selby Town.

Hallam drop four places to sixth as the NCEL's biggest crowd on Non League Day, 325, saw them go down 2-1 at home to Hemsworth Miners Welfare who replace them in second spot courtesy of Shane Kelsey's winner on 58 minutes.

Two goals from Terry Barwick helped Bottesford Town move up into third after a 3-2 win at Glasshoughton Welfare whilst Hull United's 2-2 draw at AFC Emley keeps them in fourth spot, Ashley Flynn with two late goals for the hosts to grab a point and take his season's tally to 30.

Lewis Dickinson scored a hat-trick and there were two for Oliver Fearon as Penistone Church won 5-1 at home to Teversal and they are now fifth in the table.

And, there was also a hat-trick for George Eustance as his Knaresborough Town side beat visitors Eccleshill United, 5-3, to climb into seventh.

There were away wins for Westell VIP, 2-1 at botttom side Lincoln Moorlands Railway with Chris Spinks getting both of their goals, and for Yorkshire Amateur, 2-0, at Rossington Main.

And, there were 1-1 draws for Hall Road Rangers at home to Winterton Rangers and for Grimsby Borough at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.

Meanwhile, there was massive disappointment for two of our sides as they were beaten at Step 7 teams in the First Round of the Derbyshire Senior Cup with Dronfield Town going down 3-1 at Hilton Harriers and Shirebrook Town beaten 2-1 after extra time at Whaley Bridge Athletic.
