Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #18
8th October, 2015
Handsworth Parramore missed a chance to move level on points with Toolstation NCEL Premier Division leaders Tadcaster Albion in midweek as they drew 2-2 at Clipstone.
They led twice through Colin Marrison and Simon Harrison but were pegged back on both occasions by goals for the eight-placed Cobras from Alec Denton and James Ashmore.
Barton Town Old Boys are one place behind Parramore in fourth spot after a 5-1 win at Armthorpe Welfare, a victory that was sealed in the last fifteen minutes with a brace from Bradley Ricketts and an Ashley Lattimore strike.
Armthorpe remain in the bottom two, above basement side Brigg Town who went down 2-1 at home to Maltby Main, Brian Cusworth with the winner on 88 minutes.
And, Benn Lewis got the vital goal for Bridlington Town in their victory by the same scoreline over Pontefract Collieries at the Neil Hudgell Solicitors Stadium.
Division One leaders AFC Mansfield were beaten in the league for the first time this season despite taking the lead at home to Penistone Church through Craig Mitchell on 38 minutes as Oliver Fearon and Andy Barlow scored in the second period to claim a 2-1 win for the visitors who are in sixth.
Hallam move up to second, four points behind the Bulls, after Michael Blythen's hat-trick helped them to a 5-1 home victory over Rossington Main whilst Hemsworth Miners Welfare are third following their 4-0 defeat of visitors Dronfield Town.
They both go above Hull United who drew 1-1 at Winterton Rangers, Matt Plummer with a late equaliser for the Citizens after Matthew Steeper had put the hosts ahead before half-time.
And, Shirebrook Town are now ninth after a 4-1 home victory over Hall Road Rangers, meaning the Langwith Road side have now gone unbeaten for over a month after a slow start to the season.
Albion Sports became the first side to reach the Third Round of the League Cup as they won 5-0 at home to Nostell Miners Welfare whilst there was also plenty of County Cup action.
Glasshoughton Welfare went down 4-1 at Harrogate Railway in the West Riding County Cup First Round, and Eccleshill United and Tadcaster were beaten 7-6 on penalty kicks after their games finished all-square after ninety minutes.
Eccleshill and hosts Barnoldswick Town played out a remarkable 5-5 draw and Tadcaster held Goole AFC to a 2-2 scoreline.
Selby Town also bowed out of the competition as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Silsden.
But, things were better in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup as Worksop Town, courtesy of a fifth-minute goal from Andrew Ofusu, beat Evo-Stik League visitors Sheffield, 1-0, and AFC Emley were 4-1 victors in their game against Thorpe Hesley that was switched to their Welfare Ground home.
