Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #13

20th September, 2015

All of the top five sides in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division won whilst AFC Mansfield extended their lead at the summit in Division One after a full round of league fixtures on Saturday.

Tadcaster Albion still head the pack in the top flight but were made to battle for their 4-3 home victory over Rainworth Miners Welfare.

Patrick Miller put the Brewers ahead on four minutes but Lewis Bingham and Jack Andrews had the visitors in front before the midway point of the opening half.

Josh Barrett restored parity by the interval, Bingham got his second to regain the lead for the Wrens but Jimmy Beadle made it 3-3 on 57 minutes and Daniel Clayton's penalty just past the hour mark claimed the win for the home side.

Things were easier for the chasing pack as Worksop Town, Handsworth Parramore, Bridlington Town and Albion Sports all claimed victories without having their defences breached.

Steve Woolley, Conor Higginson, Kyle Jordan and Mitch Husbands netted for Worksop in their 4-0 home win over Maltby Main whilst it was a 6-0 triumph for Handsworth at next-to-bottom Thackley, Jon Froggatt getting two of the goals whilst Kieran Wells, Ben Starosta, Colin Marrison and Alex Rippon also got on the scoresheet.

A brace from Connor Harman helped Bridlington to a 4-0 victory at basement side Brigg Town and Albion Sports were 2-0 winners at Garforth Town thanks to strikes from Brice Tiani and Marcus Edwards at each end of the game.

Barton Town Old Boys are up to sixth after Gareth Owen and Ashley Dexter secured a 3-1 win at Pontefract Collieries and a Courtney Hastings double ensured that Staveley Miners Welfare climb into seventh after coming from behind to defeat visitors Nostell Miners Welfare, 2-1.

Clipstone drop to eighth as a Marc Cooper hat-trick condemned them to a 3-2 loss at home to Cleethorpes Town and there was also home disappointment for Parkgate and Athersley Recreation.

Lewis Taylor struck twice in Pickering Town's 3-0 win over Parkgate and Retford United beat Athersley, 2-1.

Armthorpe Welfare had five different scorers in their 5-1 home victory over Liversedge, Ben Muirhed, Kieran Benson, Joe Lumsden, Stuart Preston and James Handley, whilst James French netted a consolation for the visitors.

In Division One, Joe Cheeseman and Phil Buxton found the net at the end of the opening period to secure a 2-0 win for AFC Mansfield at fifth-placed Hemsworth Miners Welfare.

The Bulls are now a point clear of their nearest rivals who are Bottesford Town following their 4-2 home victory over Hall Road Rangers, Steve Ridley and Scott Hellewell scoring in the first half before Terry Barwick and Wayne Graves made sure of the win after the interval.

Hallam are up to third after a Michael Blythen brace helped them to a 4-0 scoreline at Winterton Rangers who remain at the foot of the table whilst Hull United drew 1-1 at home with Eccleshill United to fall into fourth spot.

Grimsby Borough and Lincoln Moorlands Railway were unable to put any daylight between themselves and Winterton as they also tasted defeat, Borough losing 3-1 at home to Knaresborough Town and Moorlands falling to a 4-2 loss at Penistone Church, Oliver Fearon getting two of the hosts' goals.

There was a seven goal thriller at the Euronics Ground with the home side, Westella VIP, eventually prevailing 4-3 over AFC Emley as Callum Harrison got what proved to be the winner on the hour mark.

Teversal won 2-0 at home to Rossington Main with their first goal coming from debutant Mark Carter, Dane Mortimer scored twice in Selby Town's 4-0 victory over visitors Glasshoughton Welfare and Adam Shaw also got two in Yorkshire Amateur's 4-1 home win over Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.

And, Dronfield Town's injury-time equaliser from Harley Wilson saw them draw 1-1 at home to Shirebrook Town.
