Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #7
31st August, 2015
The Toolstation NCEL will be represented by four teams in the First Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup next month.
Armthorpe Welfare, Clipstone, Maltby Main and Thackley all won on Saturday to ensure that they progressed from their Extra Preliminary Round ties.
Joe Lumsden struck for Armthorpe as they won 1-0 at home to New Mills, whilst Clipstone also went through by the same scoreline over visitors and league rivals Cleethorpes Town with Adam Somes getting the goal midway through the second period.
Maltby were 2-1 victors at 1874 Northwich, Nicky Darker and Ben Thornton finding the net for the Miners, whilst Ben Cohen and Ryan Farrell earned Thackley a 2-1 win at Ashington.
Elsewhere, it was disappointment as AFC Emley, Barton Town Old Boys, Bottesford Town, Handsworth Parramore, Pickering Town, Pontefract Collieries and Tadcaster Albion all bowed out.
In the league, Premier Division leaders Worksop Town missed out on the chance to move three points clear of Tadcaster at the top as they were beaten 4-3 at home in an enthralling game against Staveley Miners Welfare.
The visitors struck twice in quick succession through Adam Scott and Jamie Brown to be two goals up by the thirteenth minute and it stayed that way until early in the second half when a Simon Hore own goal brought the Tigers back into the game.
Jamie York restored Staveley two goal advantage before the hour mark, then Worksop bounced back once again through Conor Sellar only for Scott to get his second and make it 4-2 with twelve minutes remaining.
Chris Adam got a third for the hosts but they could not find an equaliser and Staveley took the win to move up into ninth spot.
Albion Sports are up to third after a 2-1 home victory over bottom side Brigg Town who are still searching for their first point, Marcus Edwards and Michael O'Brien with the Lions' goals whilst there was a late consolation for the visitors from Jamie Barnwell.
Garforth Town drop to fifth following a 1-1 draw at Retford United, Luke Mangham's late equaliser earning them a point at the Jones & Co Stadium.
A Matthew Sykes brace helped Rainworth Miners Welfare to a 3-1 home win over Athersley Recreation to move up the Wrens into sixth place.
Defeats for Parkgate and Bridlington Town saw them drop to seventh and eighth, respectively, Parkgate beaten 4-0 at Liversedge whilst Bridlington went down 3-1 at home to Nostell Miners Welfare, Tom Robinson getting a double for the away side.
Hull United are the new leaders of Division One after four goals from Brett Agnew, plus strikes from Nick McNamara, Marcus Hall and Matty Start, secured a 7-0 home victory at the expense of Grimsby Borough.
Along with AFC Mansfield, they go above Hallam who did not have a game, Mansfield thumping visitors Winterton Rangers, 8-0, to climb into second.
Dean Rick got a hat-trick for the Bulls, Craig Mitchell struck twice and Mark Dudley, Ryan Williams and Carl Haslam ensured a comfortable afternoon over a Winterton side who are now bottom of the table.
They replace Lincoln Moorlands Railway who drew 1-1 at Rossington Main, Ward Wisdom-Lockwood's equaliser on 58 minutes claiming their first point of the campaign.
Dominic Blair got two of Hemsworth Miners Welfare's goals in a 4-2 win at Selby Town to lift them into fourth, a scoreline matched by Eccleshill United at home to Dronfield Town with Adam Turner claiming a brace for the Eagles.
Westella VIP went behind late on at Shirebrook Town but turned it round with goals from Rob Petch and Callum Harrison to win 2-1.
And, Glasshoughton Welfare drew 1-1 at home to Hall Road Rangers whilst Yorkshire Amateur held hosts Knaresborough Town to a 2-2 scoreline.
