Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2015/16 #2
13th August, 2015
Five sides progressed from the First Round of the Toolstation NCEL League Cup which got underway for the 2015/16 season in midweek.
And, there was plenty of excitement as 25 goals were scored in the handful of games, nine of them coming in Yorkshire Amateur's 5-4 home victory over Hall Road Rangers.
Daniel Walker and Adam Foster scored for Rangers to put them two up by the 31st minute but the scores were level by the break with Harrison Blakey and Glen Wood netting for the hosts.
There were then four goals in five minutes just before the hour-mark as Craig Heard struck a quickfire hat-trick whilst Foster got his second to leave the Ammers 5-3 ahead and, although Walker also got on the scoresheet again in stoppage time, it was the home side who went through.
There were 4-3 victories for AFC Emley and Glasshoughton Welfare with Max Leonard's injury-time goal snatching Emley the win at Hemsworth Miners Welfare after the home side had fought back from a double strike from Ashley Flynn in the first half.
Glasshoughton prevailed, meanwhile, in extra-time, Del Pollock with a goal on 103 minutes to send them through at home to Lincoln Moorlands Railway.
Luke Thomas netted late in Shirebrook Town's 1-0 home win over Dronfield Town and Teversal triumphed by the same scoreline over visitors Hull United, Jason Dawson with their goal.
In the Premier Division, Parkgate and Garforth Town are the early pacesetters, the only sides to have won two out of two so far in the competition.
Oliver Graham scored a hat-trick as Parkgate won 4-3 at Tadcaster Albion and Mark Simpson got both of Garforth's goals in their 2-1 victory at Bridlington Town.
The biggest crowd was at the Windsor Foodservice Stadium as 534 watched Clipstone win 3-2 at Worksop Town.
Liam Nelthorpe's opener on 11 minutes, followed by a James Cottingham own goal, put the Cobras well in the lead by midway through the first period before Jamie Hatfield pulled one back for the home side and the scores were levelled on 76 by Mitch Husbands.
But, Adam Somes quickly restored Clipstone's advantage to make it four points from the opening two games for last season's Division One champions.
Lewis Theakstone scored twice for Rainworth Miners Welfare as they also won 3-2 on their travels at Albion Sports and it was the same scoreline for Staveley Miners Welfare at Brigg Town.
Athersley Recreation recovered from their opening day mauling at the hands of Worksop to win 1-0 at Armthorpe Welfare whilst Maltby Main also picked up their first victory by beating visitors Retford United, 2-1.
Barton Town Old Boys won 3-0 at home to Nostell Miners Welfare whilst Thackley were beaten 2-1 at Liversedge, Andrew Wood with both of the hosts' goals.
In Division One, Hallam made it two wins out of two as Micah Bishop and Callum Greaves earned them a 2-0 home win over Westella VIP and Rossington Main are on four points after the opening week following their 3-1 victory over visitors Knaresborough Town.
Penistone Church defeated hosts Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, 3-0, a result matched by Bottesford Town at home to Selby Town.
