2026/27 NCEL line-up revealed by The FA
14th May, 2026
The line-ups for the 2026/27 Macron NCEL season have been released by the FA with a number of lateral movements affecting both of our divisions for the campaign that begins at the end of July.
We bid farewell to seven teams but welcome three new sides to the league whilst there is a welcome return for a further four.
As expected, Premier Division champions Liversedge and play-off winners Beverley Town are promoted to the Northern Premier League whilst, at the other end of the NCEL, we say goodbye to Glasshoughton Welfare and Nostell Miners Welfare whose bottom-two finish in Division One means they are both relegated to the Feeder Leagues.
Inter-divisional changes see Dearne & District and Worsbrough Bridge Athletic move up from Division One after their fantastic seasons and Wombwell Town are relegated from the Premier Division.
Retford and Retford United are promoted to our Premier Division, moving across from the United Counties League, whilst in Division One, Hemsworth Miners Welfare and Immingham Town are back in the NCEL after their move up from the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League and Lincolnshire Football League, respectively.
The three new teams are Field Olympic from the West Yorkshire Association League, Kinsley Boys from the Central Midlands Alliance League, and LIV from the Humber Premier League.
Three of our sides - Louth Town, Sheffield and Maltby Main - move across the pyramid into the United Counties League.
And, there is a name change with Eccleshill United becoming known as Keighley Town from the start of the new season.
The changes mean that the number of teams in each division will remain at 20 in the Premier Division and 22 in Division One.
We extend a warm welcome to all the sides coming into the Macron NCEL and offer a fond farewell to those who are leaving us and we wish them all every success in the future.
The line-ups will be ratified at next month's NCEL AGM whereupon the website and our social media will be updated to reflect the new constitution.
