Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2022/23 #67

13th April, 2023

Winterton Rangers' place in the Inter-Step Play-Offs has been confirmed after Emley AFC's promotion hopes were ended in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division in midweek.

Emley would have overtaken Rangers and finished in second spot if they had gained four points in their two remaining games after Winterton's league campaign had come to an end at the weekend.

But, the Pewits were beaten 1-0 at Hallam on Tuesday night to make it impossible for them to take second spot so Rangers will now face a Step 4 side at the end of the month to see if they can progress up the National League System.

Nicolatonio Degrolamo struck the only goal of the game for the Countrymen in front of a crowd of 520 and they finish in sixth spot whilst their visitors will end the season in third.

Barton Town confirmed seventh place with a 2-1 home win over Silsden AFC after Joseph Crosby had given the away side an early lead.

Benjamin Hinchliffe levelled matters for the Swans just before half-time and then Daniel North grabbed what proved to be the decider midway through the second period.

A hat-trick for Kayle Price helped Golcar United to a 5-2 victory against basement visitors Yorkshire Amateur to leave them ninth in the table in their inaugural NCEL campaign.

Slater Barkham-Barnes and Max Leonard also netted for the hosts whilst Louis Fialdini and Wilfred Frimpong were the scorers for the Ammers.

And, Eccleshill United defeated near neighbours Albion Sports 1-0 at the Mitton Group Stadium, Luke Sidaway striking in the 55th minute for the Eagles who end the season in fifteenth whilst the Lions should finish eleventh.

In Division One, Parkgate ensured safety as Ahmed Tahar and Joshua Nodder earned them a 2-1 home win over Dronfield Town, Jake Hatton with the goal for the visitors.

The Steelmen climb up three places to finish in fourteenth, four points above the relegation zone, meaning Shirebrook Town, Swallownest and Athersley Recreation are below the dotted line and now wait for any possible reprieves as the regular campaign comes to an end.

Swallownest drew 1-1 with visitors Brigg Town, Jack Haslam with a late leveller after Joshua Fraiwald had put the away side in front.

Athersley, who were confirmed bottom at the weekend, were beaten 3-1 at Armthorpe Welfare, Jed Wilkinson with their goal whilst Jamie Austin, Kane Reece and Billy Rhodes scored for the hosts who end the campaign in eighth, two points shy of the play-offs.

And, Harrogate Railway Athletic confirmed second spot with a 1-0 victory at champions Campion, Owen Dunckley with the only goal of the game on 70 minutes.

The Rail now host Horbury Town in the play-offs whilst Rossington Main entertain Wakefield AFC in the other Semi-Final this weekend.
