Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2022/23 #28

10th November, 2022

Emley AFC extended their unbeaten run in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division to fifteen matches in midweek to close the gap to the summit to just two points.

A 3-1 victory at Frickley Athletic pulled them nearer to table-toppers North Ferriby whose trip to fourth-placed Barton Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Ross Hardaker gave the Pewits a 38th minute lead and James Walshaw doubled their advantage on the hour mark before Charlie Clegg threatened a comeback for the hosts as he struck with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.

But, Joe Clegg made sure of the victory with Emley's third in the 87th minute.

Handsworth climb to sixth following their 4-1 home victory over next-to-bottom Goole AFC, Iren Wilson, Elliott Walker, James Eyles and Jonathan Hill with the Ambers' goals whilst Oliver Russon netted for the visiting Vikings.

A Frederick Tracey penalty, added to by a late Sam Ackroyd strike, gave Maltby Main a 2-0 win at Penistone Church to move the Miners up to ninth.

And, there was a 1-1 draw between Knaresborough Town and Thackley, Aiden Chippendale with the away side's opener before Danny Edwards restored parity for the hosts.

Josh Devereux gave Shirebrook Town the lead in their Derbyshire Senior Cup Second Round tie at home to Graham Street Prims but his side eventually bowed out of the competition with a 2-1 loss.

Meanwhile, Dronfield Town's tie at Borrowash Victoria in the same competition was postponed and will now be played at the HE Barnes Stadium next Tuesday.
