New Boss At Lees Lane
15th June, 2006
South Normanton Athletic have announced their new management team after the departure of Chris Nicholson in the close season.
Chairman Colin Price has revealed that former Long Eaton boss Glynn Stacy has been appointed with Mark Harvey (ex-Sandiacre Town) as his assistant.
Price added: "The club are delighted to have secured what we believe is a major name in local football.
"His record as a player is second to none as a prolific centre forward and he has been in charge of Long Eaton's two successive promotions when he was manager there.
"We were very impressed by the applications we recieved, nine in all, some of which took even the committee by surprise.
"We shortlisted three, all of whom did very well in their interviews, but Stacy stood apart.
"He has a 'winners' attitude and that's what we are looking for having struggled for the past 3 years since Rob Atkin left Lees Lane.
"The whole club is buzzing at the moment," said Chairman Price, " now we have the academy side in place, further ground improvements being implemented as we speak, and a new manager with ambition, drive and enthusiasm."
Training starts on the 4th of July at Lees Lane. All past players are invited to attend, and anyone who feels they can play at this level are welcome to come and show the new manager what they can do.
Meanwhile, the club are on the lookout for a Commercial Manager with experience in that field.
Good Commission will be paid to the right applicant, and anyone interested should call Peter Kane on 07984 933960 to arrange an interview.

Outgoing Shiners Boss Felt 'Crowded Out'
2nd June, 2006
Outgoing South Normanton Athletic manager Chris Nicholson said he felt "crowded" by the committee in the final few months of his time at the club.
Nicholson, who resigned from the Derbyshire side on Saturday, had been at Lees Lane for 18 months and steered the Shiners to a mid-table position last season.
"I had started to feel a bit crowded by the committee and was no longer enjoying it at South Normanton," said Nicholson
"I was told that the club weren't going to pay the players' expenses for the last game of the season and that's not on.
"I've been involved in football for around 16 years and you know it's time to leave when you no longer enjoy doing what you're doing.
"There are no hard feelings, however, and I wish South Normanton all the best for the future."
Anyone interested in applying for the vacant manager's post should contact Shiners chairman Colin Price on 07976 621614.

Shiners 'Impressed' At Boss Applicants
1st June, 2006
The committee of NCEL Division One side South Normanton Athletic say they are very impressed at the calibre of people interested in the vacant manager's position at the club.
The Shiners' Vice Chairman Peter Kane has said that "it is a credit to the club and its committee" that they have attracted the attention of some high class applicants, with proven track records on- and off-the-field.
He has revealed that the closing date for applications will be this weekend and a shortlist will be drawn up, but they will not be rushed into making a decision.
He said: "We have done that in the past only to regret it at a later date.
"This club will never be held to ransom over budgets. It will, as it has always done, keep the club in the black, but we will offer the new manager an incentive-built package that encourages good results, and keeps the club on an even keel.
"The club itself have embarked on an academy under-19 side for the forthcoming season which is a bonus for the new management team, as they will have the pick of any local youngster who is good enough for the first team."
The search for a new manager began last week after Chris Nicholson unexpectedly resigned after eighteen months in charge.

Shiners Chairman Resigns
26th October, 2005
The Chairman of NCEL Division One side South Normanton Athletic has announced he is to stand down.
Peter Kane, who was a founding member of the club back in 1980, was appointed chairman on a temporary basis 18 months ago when his predecessor resigned due to work commitments.
Mr Kane has insisted that his decision is nothing to do with the club's league position, but he has recently got married and wishes to spend more time with his family.
Kane added: "As chairman, I feel that the current committee have done their bit, most have been here for over 20 years, but what this club needs is a new start.
"The potential is great, with the club having its own social club, carparking, floodlights, and major ground improvements in the pipeline. We have just negotiated a further 25-year lease on top of the 5 years left to run on our current one.
"We appeal to ANYONE out there with views on running a club at this level to get in touch with your proposals. The time is right for 'new blood' to take the reins here at South Normanton.
"It's not a weekend job for any committee so if people are serious about organising a new committee to take over, they must think long and hard about the amount of time running a club at this level takes.
"The current lads on our committee are mostly in their retirement ages and are feeling that maybe it's time to step down.
"Having said that, we are all behind our current managers Chris Nicholson and Brian Franks, who had a mammoth task to turn the footballing side of things round. That is still ongoing and, whilst things on the pitch are way from being perfect, we feel that the guys are taking us in the right direction."
Any prospective candidates for all positions at the club please contact Peter Kane on 07984933960 or email kanepeter9@aol.com
