Managerial Change at Hallam
22nd January, 2011
Hallam have announced the departure of manager Kenny Geelan who stepped down from his position after the club's midweek defeat against Liversedge.
The Sandygate side have thanked him for his efforts and wished him all the best for the future.
Following his departure, the club have acted swiftly to appoint Julian Watts as their new manager.
Watts is a 39 year old who, as a defender, played for Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United and Leicester City where he won a League Cup winners' medal under Martin O'Neill.
He also turned out for Bristol City and Luton Town and spent four years in Australia playing for Northern Spirit in Sydney.
Watts leaves his position as assistant manager at fellow NCEL club Maltby Main, where he has been instrumental in a surge of form which has taken them into the top half of the Premier Division, to take charge at Sandygate.
The new manager's first game in the dugout will be next Saturday (29th January) against Selby Town at Sandygate.

Hallam Get Unexpected Fortune From Fan
19th December, 2010
KoolSport NCEL Premier Division side Hallam say they are stunned after a quiet and unassuming fan left them a six-figure sum in his will.
The club, who are celebrating their 150th anniversary this year, say they never expected the money bequeathed to them by long-term supporter Roger Bell.
And, they say it means they can now push ahead with planned ground improvements.
Chairman David Slater told The Star newspaper: "Roger was a supporter for twenty years who would go to home matches and some aways.
"I believe he had no family, which is perhaps why he left his estate to the development of our ground.
"He never told anybody at the club he was going to do what he did, it came completely out of the blue.
"Roger was a popular man; he loved his football but never got over-excited.
"He believed in our philosophy and plans for the future and his money will help us build a ?280,000 visitors centre, hopefully next year."
