3rd May, 2024

It will be a battle of the champions in next week's JCP Construction League Cup Final after Parkgate booked their place with a 2-0 home win over Campion.

The Division One trophy winners will face their Premier Division counterparts Emley AFC at Scunthorpe United FC's Attis Arena next Wednesday.

Second-half goals from Ahmed Tahar and Cian Guest secured victory over a Campion side who suffered further disappointment following their exit from the Premier Division Promotion Play-Offs at the weekend.

It was a second victory in midweek for the Steelmen after they won 3-1 at fellow promotion hopefuls Shirebrook Town on Monday night.

Anthony Dwyer had given the hosts an early lead but Daniel Booth restored parity midway through the opening period before Jamie Austin and Harry Day struck in the second half to secure the win that sees Parkgate end the season on 107 points.

Shirebrook now face Wakefield AFC in this weekend's Division One Promotion Play-Offs whilst Beverley Town take on Retford United in the other semi-final.

The other three Division One games played in midweek all ended in draws with Clay Cross Town playing out a goalless game with visitors Retford FC and Harrogate Railway Athletic finishing 2-2 at home with Armthorpe Welfare on Tuesday.

Harry Bandeira grabbed a late equaliser for the Rail after Jordan Buckham and Luke Williams had given the visitors a 2-1 advantage following an opener for the hosts from the penalty spot by Luca Bolino.

Thursday's game saw Clay Cross and Railway face each other in another 2-2 draw, Reece Clegg's first half double for the home side cancelled out in the second period by substitutes Charlie Dunn and Robert Youhill.

And, in the final Premier Division match of the season, Zackary Sangster and Fredy Bernard netted as Eccleshill United came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Barton Town who had taken the lead through Kian Salter.

Eccleshill end the campaign in sixteenth spot whilst Barton finish two places above them in fourteenth.
